When are you no longer considered a young entrepreneur?

I know this is kinda a weird question but when do you stop calling yourself a young entrepreneur and start calling yourself just an entrepreneur. I have realized how hard it is to actually network with young entrepreneurs mainly because forums and blogs and such are filled with older people trying to push their products or services. I understand that a lot of people on this forum are older and giving advice to the younger people but what is the cutoff age?

Honestly, does it matter? You can call yourself whatever you want, it doesn't change who you are or what your goals in life are.

I believe its after you're done college. So basically around 22. Because then you're pretty much on your own and can't be considered "young" in terms of business.

I agree with Encrypted. It doesn't really mean anything. In all honesty, I never used the term "Young Entrepreneur" even when I was in my teens. I've always considered myself as just an Entrepreneur. Putting the word "Young" in front of it doesn't represent anything other than age but that doesn't change anything. If you are asking the question simply for the purpose of networking with people close to your age or people in the younger age group, then I think its best to start a thread and draw a crowd within that age group. Its probably a known fact that not everyone on YE is considered young (which is a subjective term anyway).

I have to agree with Encrypted on this one. If you are starting something new then you are young, no matter what age you are in.

I don't mean to be harsh or anything here, but when one says young entrepreneur, inexperience and teenager are the first two things that come to mind. So once you are a successful business owner/entrepreneur then you can drop the dirty adjective, young, and just be known as an entrepreneur.

I agree with Encrypted... Does it really matter? or even Should it matter? I do not think a word is any indication of how professional a person is, nonetheless establish whether they really are young or not. One can be young at heart and hence consider oneself young. Or as someone else said, be a beginner and consider yourself a young entrepreneur. I think it is a matter of interpretation and it should not really matter.

I think the correct term you're trying to reference to is novice entrepreneur, not young. Young often does create an image of inexperience and teenager would definitely be classified as being young BUT being a teenager or not doesn't change anything and I've seen some amazing inexperience entrepreneurs build great companies on their first try. Honestly, I would associate young more with age than I would "inexperience" and I never really use the term young entrepreneur even when I was young, just entrepreneur.

When you are no longer young, or no longer an entrepreneur.

Of course, that raises the question of what is, "young", and thats a standard that varies person to person.

when you sell your company for over 10 million dollars.... hahaha i dont think it really matters....age is relative! The guy from wal mart never made it big until his 40's....to some that is considered young....while the youtube guys sold their firm for a billion in their twenties...some would also call that young.
