Believe it or not, collating newspapers is how I'm raising money to start my business.

I basically just called up local newspaper companies and told them I would collate their papers for less than they currently pay (collating is putting different sections of the newspaper into the plastic bag they come in, boring as hell, but very profitable).

Two newspaper companies allotted about five thousand papers a piece to me, per week. I make $00.22 per paper I do (On average most newspapers pay $00.31 per paper). I'm making roughly $1700/week after taxes by doing this, and it takes me about three hours a day, Monday through Friday.

Actually thinking about it now, I guess this is my first business.

Bootstrap funding stories are like porn to me. To hear of a company that succeed by skimming by and great news. Just a quick story CostCo was started on credit cards before investment came rolling in. These guys must of had some good credit limits.

Everyone seems to be an expert in something these days. Whether it’s technology, social media, fitness, foreclosures…I’m pretty sure this explosive growth of authority figures is pretty universal among industries.

My guess as to why is not just because people are looking for an edge, and some sort of competitive advantage, or unique identity that sets them apart, but the rise of citizen journalism and infopreneuring has something to do with it too. Millions of people now publish blogs, they self publish books, give seminars, start new departments for their companies…bottom line, they make money from packaging themselves as such. And more power to them for that!

Without pointing fingers or passing judgment (any further that is), I wanted to start to open a dialogue about what true expertise really means, so we can start holding all of ourselves to a higher standard, or, at very least, some minimal standards. It’s for the good of us all, seriously........................
