What do you do for 5 hours a week that yields you enough money to live on and more? If you don't mind my asking? If I had left over money and a lot of time on my hands I would sell boat rides. I love boating and that would give me a way to make money doing it? Do you like to boat? Monthly payments are much lower than what you'd make giving rides. Just a thought.

Agreed with Mary. I have customers and business-to-business colleagues that make their living off of marine based services, most commonly charter fishing and tours.

However, a few ideas that could really fulfill often times overlooked market niches when hear water are:

-Water Taxi. Find an area where docking and mooring may not be available in that "hot spot" but rather there is some a ways away. Set up a water taxi service for those who come in by boat and do not wish to get onto land and take a regular cab/rent a car etc.

-Waterfront property tours by boat. You can find a local real estate agent/broker that has a fair amount of listings on the water, and you can set up some terms where you will offer potential buyers rides via the water to see the homes from the lake, etc.

-Boat Tours. You can spend some time researching the area you are in and give casual, personal tours rather than the large scripted vessels that charge alot.

    Just some thoughts.

PS I may or may not be a little biased by the boat idea

Sounds like you have already taking the advice of Timothy of The 4 Hour Work Week. Yes I just finished living like a king on $1000 with no credit/debit card or checking account for 2 YEARS. I teach people how to barter from my 25 years of experience. I have just started BartherWealth Network where there NO fees of any kind.

To start off, what are you interested in? You don't want to start up a McDonald's franchise and your a vegetarian ... well, maybe in some rare cases. Write down your top 5 interests and go from there. Find out if there are valid business ventures based on your interests. If there are none, brainstorm some more until something interests you.
I find that many people start a business without the passion for their product or service. They hope to make a profit but end up failing. I know some other people who might not make the huge profits, but they wake up with a smile on their face because they love what they do. I know I do ...
