What will you do if you were in China?

    Hi All,

I think everyone wants a bit of business action in China these days being one of the fastest growing economies in the world. Almost all the car manufacturers are here promoting their rides.

What will you do to kick-start and embark on a business in China if you are there?

I'm currently thinking of doing trading business - contact local wholesale agents and shipped the wanted stuff (e.g. apparels, etc) overseas to retail shops.

Appreciate some sharing or useful inputs! Thanks for reading..

I've been mulling over doing business in China, too. I was thinking of wholesaling as well. I thought about flying to China and check things out to see what's are available. Although I think Vietnam is also a good place to start a wholesaling relationship.

Going to China with a friend in Jan/Feb '08 to ide say Fujian and Ghuanzhou (provinces) as they have the bulk of the manufacturing sites. China is the new place to do business from, and I think it would be very profitable to live there and distribute from there globally, but not looking really to do that. This trip I just want to find some good contacts and look for some products to start importing cant wait!

I am also planning a trip to China Next year, I am planning to go a check out a range of trade shows.
The hardest part is finding the right product to import.
Through globalisation the import process has become so easy, and you will find that when ever you think you have a great idea someone is already doing it.

Yup, these two provinces will be the right places to start looking. But you'll need to spend some considerable time on travelling alone as the regions are big. I'm providing translation services should you require during your trip. We can discuss further.

China is a great place to import if you have build a business relationship with other reliable suppliers and other partners. The main place or city i mainly deal with is Shenzhen which where all the factories are. I would suggest meeting in person with whoever you would deal with to build some kind of a relationship. However starting small is the way to go then build up your business while time goes on. I learned alot when i started even though i got scammed i could have lost way more than before.

Now i have friends/agents that help me inspect the qualities make sure its shipped on time etc.I have mainly dealth with gadgets but i would move to another product soon that i think it has potential but looking for partners to work with on this one. I would love to network with anyone interested or already in this field please pm me and we can talk business and brainstorm different ideas. Do you realize that you can make alot of money in import/export business dealing with different countries that have buying power? Its all about demand and supply and what products other markets need that they cant get or its too expensive in their home country. The opportunity is unlimited it depend how hard you work. Networking is one the skills you need when it comes to doing global business with different countries. You have to learn the market and have partners or friends to help you target the right market.

I am passionate about this business even though right now i have been busy with college i am still networking and building a business relationship with different partners in other markets. Start small, have a good foundation and build you way up and try to have a large client base in different places. PM me if you have any questions or want to build a business relationship.

    Good Luck!!!

I'd look at the number of people in this thread alone looking to travel there for business relation ships and save them the trip. I'd set up a networking site based on subscription, host meetings on the net, set up phone cons, net meetings and other networking opps for people who want to be in China. I'd charge subscriptions for networking services and free articles about businesses to get people to come then later subscribe for the robust services in the member area! Just me tho...
