What to do with my domain?

I own DefeatHiv.com and instead of just letting it sit there I want to use it for something I just don't know what yet. What kind of site could I make with it that won't take up too much time to maintain?

I realize there is a lot of non-profit potential but I meant how should I go about doing that? Make a website where people with HIV can talk to each other, make a simple donations website, ect. Unfortunately I don't have any programming skills which I'll need help with. If anyone is interested in starting a non-profit with me I'll gladly take on some partners.

You can do a lot with your website. Although non-profit, you can still earn by getting advertisers to post on your site, affiliating with other relevant sites and e-stores, or attracting donations for your cause. But it isn't going to be easy building this site and establishing a strong online presence. It will take time and a lot of work. I think I can help you. Hit me up, if you're interested. I wanted to create a place people with HIV could seek guidance. It doesn't seem that interesting anymore and I want to do something bigger with it. Something that will help a larger group of people, and forums for people looking for guidance can always be added.

Why don't you start with something small, like posting articles, and offering tips to make people aware of the disease. Or you can start with a resource center in your area pointing people in the right direction to seek help or to find an HIV support group. You can also start a discussion group with people suffering from HIV willing to lend their support, and help others not make the same mistake as they did.

Put then a phpBB to run on it, you will get forum like this one... does not cost much because it's open source.

Agreed phpBB would be a good start, or even Wordpress. You could maybe try even selling the domain, "DefeatHIV" seems like a domain that could potentially get sold a lot in time.

How about:
Finding condom manufacturers and sell condoms online?
Make it really special (design/service/creative or funny kind of condoms) and advertise it specially.

Later on, if sales are starting out, you can add some forums, community, whatever.
If you go with drupal.org you can have everything in one system.
wordpress.org is easier but the shoppingcart isn't that flexible.
Don't start developing yourself!

Gary here has come with a really good idea. Their need not be a reason as to why do it , but just do it . You are contributing to the society and will be doing something good.
