Exclamation What to do when a prospective employee asks for more money?

I sent this guy a job offer after interviewing him and others. He now asks for approx. 30% more. I definitely won't pay him that. How do I tell him that my offer is final? and not ruin the relationship in the process?

I don't want to sound too harsh, or it will be akward when he comes to work.

    Please help.

I would be completely honest about it. Tell him you cannot afford to pay him that much, and that your original offer is as much as you can offer. If he gets offended, then that's his problem. Just be very open and honest, and I think you'll be fine.
