Post What's SPAM?

A member of YE, Lamarsh, thinks that I complain too much about SPAM messages on YE. This is based mostly on his postings on YE where he's trying to promote his business, but he has posted and created so many threads for the same topic, and that's why i said something about his toooo many threads for the same topic.

I know that there're great people on here, such as Dale and Akula, and others who write great and informative articles, but they post them on YE, not on their web sites. Dale has a great marketing web site and Akula has some great blogs, and most of us have great web sites as well, but they don't post what they write for the YE audience on their sites, instead, they post them on YE for the YE audience.

I consider that, any time, when you personally write something, but then you post it on your own site and then come on YE and just post a link to your site, but not the entire article, then I consider that to be SPAM, because what you're doing is trying to direct the YE traffic to your site.

We all have businesses and sites, and if we start posting and advertising our sites on YE, then the entire site becomes perverted with SPAM messages, promoting our own interests, and not sharing the knowledge and discoveries with other.

If you have anything that you personally have written and want to share it with the YE audience, post it YE.

What I do if I have read an article or some interesting stuff that has nothing to do with me, but simply want to share it with the YE audience, that's when I write a little summary about it on YE and post a link to its site, by doing so, I am not promoting my own stuff, because that link and that site has nothing to do with me.

I think our signatures do enough promotion for our sites on YE.

But if I am wrong, then what would you consider to be SPAM on YE?

I understand your point. But you are too strict for newcomers. Perhaps you could have warned users before hand about posting the articles on YE or otherwise it will be known as "SPAM".

I personally didn't know of this rule you have until you commented on my thread. I apologise for that. But i did sincerely want to share my thoughts with the rest of the business community.

Andrew

I am not strict with newcomers, and I do post little notes on their thread stating that's SPAM, and I consider that to be a kind notice.

But then if the YE community is not too strict when coming to SPAM, then the whole YE site becomes useless.

Yeap. I remember ur note. But u deleted my thread eventually.

I understand your stand for having to be strict on regulating the incoming threads.

Andrew,

I didn't delete your thread. I don't have capacity to delete any thread on here.

Your thread was probably deleted by the moderator of this site, not me. And, if they deleted it, then they too considered it to be SPAM.

Usakos,

First of all it is SHE and not HE. Anyways I understand your feelings and appreciate your utmost honesty but I do have to agree with Andrew on this one. Publicly humiliating and calling me out on a forum where I have only honestly posted my services just a few little times and plan not to advertise again. I think that is way over the line.

This is my first week or two on the YE. Forums and honestly want to learn more about how to operate my new business and not be pestered by someone calling me out on everything I do. Be more gentle when handling newcomers because most of us are very young very unknowing and need guidance, not abuse. I noticed you PM me about this. Next time please just use PM to talk about anything and not post publicly so that everyone on this forum looks at me in a negative light. I think that is unfair business and should be stopped right away. Thank you.

Glad to see you guys worked this out civilly. Just goes to show that there are indeed mature YE members!

And from now on, let's try to be sure that if we are posting an article, we post it in its entirety. It is Ok to link back to it on our sites, but we need to be sure that readers aren't required to do so.
