Arrow What is your major in college?

Hello everyone, this is my first post! I am curious as to what everyone is majoring in...

I chose to go with Economics, mainly because it teaches problem solving and critical/analytical thinking. I think for me, it is a lot better choice then a business degree. I am also going to earn two certificates (minors), one in Diversity in Law, and the other in either International Development or Environmental Affairs.

I want to go to law school after I graduate, with the goal of getting into NYU or Georgetown. I have a couple business ideas that are college student related that I believe have a good possibility of success.

i did the financial planning major for my biz degree

now I'm in my last weeks of law school..I mostly took commercial/securities electives

I kind of like the fin planning major because I've found it more relevant than a straight finance major, and I've kind of enjoyed law school..with my favourite subjects being alternative dispute resolution, jurisprudence, corporate governance and federal constitutional law

I started a business when I was in my first year of uni...and for the large part...I can tell you that entrepreneurs are not welcome in law schools

It'll just be a bad environment for you if you wanna do your own thing

In law school people worry about getting internships/clerkships/getting good grades

If you wanna do startups, either wait and then go to law school..or don't go to law school all together

Instead, get an MBA from a college with a great entrepreneurship program...you'll be welcome there, you won't be a misfit and you'll have a hell of a lot of fun

The legal industry isn't like banking or finance...there are no age limits for new entrants (half my class are mature age students)...in other words, you can always go to law school when you're older, if you really wanna do that...although I really don't recommend it

Being a lawyer is far from the best way to live a life

In the United States being a lawyer seems a bit pointless nowadays unless you are just there for the money. No idea about Australia. I personally am taking Business Management as my major, it is suggested we take a second major however I am not sure what that is yet (I am going in the fall for my freshman year), their marketing major is more on product research and the like then advertising and stuff. They have an entrepreneurial studies minor which I plan on taking. I will probably go on to get an MBA or something, I haven't got it all figured out right now.

University of Iowa has a..I believe 4 year entrepreneurship certificate available and the like, ISU is where I am going and they have a somewhat less involved but still decent entrepreneurship system (a club, learning community that runs a cafe with the option to have stock in it, on the campus) and the like, and like I said the entrepreneurial studies minor. I am still unsure how I will focus more on the entrepreneurial side of business education wise after my 4 years here because I don't believe there are any MBA things in entrepreneurship, management would be the closest thing.

I probably would have gone to University of Iowa but I felt that their business department was a bit detached and the staff quality in general a but on the low side compared to ISU's. Plus I hated Univ. of Iowa's environment and love ISU's.

Bah I went on a tangent sorry.

May I ask why you guys going to Law school are focusing on business? Do you plan on having lawyer services related to business issues?

I guess I am the least bit of an entrepreneur here, but I have a good business mind. I actually majored in Music, though took my fair share of business classes and graphic design classes.

I'm still in High school but I took an International Business class this past year. I think I want to major in Business admin. and see what my options are and I'll go from there.

My major is BS Biology but I'm currently working as a Link Builder in one of the webmaster companies here in the Philippines.

But I'm still not giving my dreams of becoming a doctor...now I'm just trying to earn some money to help support my Med School expenses.
