Do you have a "cash cow" to fall back on?
If so, what is it?

I'm not really sure what you're trying to get to but I have a diverse number of income streams that consistently generates revenue as well as several businesses with consistent revenue coming in. There isn't any single source that I would consider more important than the other. A single "cash cow" can end up just being a cow later. As for what they are, I don't feel like listing them all.
I have a live stream of oil pouring out of the ground in my backyard. Whenever I need some cash, I just take a bucket and fill it up![]()

Here's a few examples in the game industry:
Activision's current 'Cash Cow' is the Call of Duty franchise - more notably the Modern Warfare brand.
Blizzard's Cash Cow is World of Warcraft - but they have other franchises that can also be cash cows - Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 are coming out and are being met with anticipation.
Social Media:
Facebook is a cash cow. Social gaming is also a cash cow.

LOL I'm sorry but everything Blizzard is a cash cow. Every title that company has released has been a hit. They don't have a huge selection like other gaming companies and it takes them forever to launch, but when they do, they do it right. I'll agree to an extent that WoW is their biggest but by far they definitely dominate in all areas.

Sure, and Apple's iTunes store and iphone is a cash cow...
What are some attainable cash cows for a beginner entrepreneur that does not already have a corporation?
Do you think some sort of rental business would be a good start?
Depends on the business. Movie rentals are practically dead in some cases.
