    What grants are available?

    Hello,
In another post (accidently posted in the wrong forum ) I talked about starting my own small business with a partner. A Cafe/Coffee House idea. Because I am 17, i was told that there were more opportunities for grants instead of loans because america loves it when young people start something big. Is this true? I live in Maine, and i havent really found anything about grants on our state website. Maybe you could offer up some ideas here.

If grants arent possible, how about the dreaded loans haha....are they really a pain to pay back if you are a business just starting, not sure if you will REALLY take off?

    Thanks,
    Hunter

Some grants are given out by banks, but you would have to take a class they have set up. Usually the class is specifically on preparing a business plan for your idea and given out to young adult entrepreneurs. Once the class is completed the bank will have you apply with them for a grant, usually no more than $15K to 25K.
