Arrow What do you think of Vlogs? Video blogs...

I am planning on starting my own blog, when I came across the idea of making it a video weblog. What do most people think of these? Are they annoying because you have to wait for the video to download or do they add a visual aspect and make the blog stand out? Is reading a pain or the prefered method?

Then I thought of doing a purely audio blog, but I like the idea of people being able to see me.

I looked around and saw that Google has video blogs but not what I had in mind. I looked on hotbusinessblogs.com and blogger.com but also failed to find video support. I do not know much about coding so i don't know if this is a simple task. I was thinking a typical blog format but with a movie frame for each entry and users can play the one entry they want to see/listen to. I'd also like it to be independent of Google or YouTube so as to look more professional.

Are there sites that do this? Can I set this up with normal blogging software?

That is a very cool idea. You'd probably need to make it up on your own. It is a great idea that will probably slowly be done more and more as the interent progresses.

I think doing a mix of video and writing would work.

    Yes! Do that.

If I had the bandwidth here, I'd be going through and watching all those videos right now... and if I had a digi video camera I would probably look at doing the same thing. Hehe, that would probably be a shock considering I've never actually got around to putting even a pic of myself on the net

    cheers

Look into getting a software called Visual Communicator 2 by Serious Magic. You can set up a great Vlog using it. It even creates the HTML for you embedding the video. It has green screen effects and everything.

They also have a software called Vlog It, I think. But I haven't used that one.
