i love it. did u design it yourself? very professional and all. im not sure how you'd motivate people to sign up because ive never joined a dating site. stayaway from anything too cheesy is my guess, and judging by your website i think you've achieved that.

    Hey malahverdian,

Use a live person, like I wrote about in my blog. I've done a lot of research on this technology and am even working on my own platform, but for now what I wrote about is the best on the market (bang for buck wise). It will triple your sign ups with the same base traffic, easily. I've seen my clients skyrocket their profits by using this as a tool to upgrade members as well.. Food for thought

One more thing - turn the graphic under the subtitle to a link to setup a free account - your side graphic almost didn't get my attention at all.

I agree with WAET, it's a well put together site - great stuff!

Ok, I confess I've browsed online personal's sites and yes, your's looks pretty good for a freebie. How in the world did you get women to list their weight?! Umm, anyway, I agree that the navigation on the left could be enhanced. The other thing I noticed is you have to sign up to browse people. Speaking personally - if I have to sign up first, I just keep going and don't bother. Maybe I'm unusual in that - don't know. And now I feel silly, but I don't remember ... was there a function to search by geography, body type, hair color, certain habits (like smoking), etc.? This too is important in a personals site. Maybe add a section for "What (or who) I'm looking for."

    Thanks for all the feedback.

Remi - I just as of two days ago decided to block out the search functionality hoping that it would encourage sign ups, while I am still growing. The mentality is that they can see there are people on the site, via the Featured Members on the Front page, but because the population is so low, if they search and only find 70 people, with none in relatively close proximity to them, it may scare them off. Also I do have an advanced search to search by proximity, interests, physical traits, everything. I also have some advanced privacy options to hide your profile from search results to anyone outside of a certain age range, etc.

WAET - I did design and code the site myself, still some more features to be built but it has all of the basic functionality of searching, advanced search, messaging, waving, blocking and reporting users and images.

Josh - I'll take a look at your blog tonight, it's blocked at work... man I can't wait to quit my job and focus on my projects full time.

If anyone else has any other suggestions regarding marketing, or user incentives please feel free to chime in... I have 5,000 business cards printed out and am going to try to start distributing them locally, just need an idea of how to do that... also I was thinking of having a Grand Opening contest to refer people and new users that fill out and complete their profiles with a certain amount of page views are entered to win a cash prize, or maybe a Gas Card.

Try going to love related discussion boards and chatrooms, yahoo groups that are related to finding singles.

You could also try adding your website to review websites so that your customers can write personal experieces. Opinions are powerful motivaters. Ratinghq.com is a good website to start with.

Just a quick question about your site. What is your affiliation with LavaLife (banners on the top and on the side), or are these just adverts? If adverts, what is the rationale for advertising competition on your site?

They are just advertisements through Adsense... I plan on blocking all of the competing sites that pose a threat fairly soon, just haven't done it yet.

Im still undecided as to whether a paysite is actually competition or not, since a paysite has a much different customer than a free site. Chances are they will be blocked soon though.

I actually thought it was a clever way to add a bit of legitimacy to your new site because it made it appear as if you are affiliated with them in some way. Hmm. Go figure.
