What do you guys think about this business I might do?

    Hey fellow business frontiersmen,

I am moving to college next fall and I want to start a business there.

    Party Food

I was thinking of selling hot dogs and drinks infront of big parties. I would be a sort of "hot dog" party consultant. Party organizers (frats, sororities, etc) would call me up to sell infront of their party. I would give the party organizers 25% of the profit as an additional incentive.

Selling food at parties when everyone is drunk should be fairly easy.

Maybe when I get more popular, I can send out other people to parties. I would supply the resources and the connections, and they would recieve a commission on whatever they sell.

I could advertise on facebook, myspace, etc. I could hand out flyers/business cards while handing out hot dogs. I could also throw or sponsor a party myself (which I would probably do initially to get my name out).

    What do you guys think?

Sounds like a good idea. I go to Ohio State University, one of the largest campus in the country. When i walk around on campus i always see hot dog vendors setting up shop. You may wanna look into setting up a stand on campus if you can.

That actually sounds like a very feasible plan. But yeah, throw your own party - make some contacts with frats and sororities, party ppl in larger residences. You have some stellar ideas right off the bat.

BORED, thats a great idea. I'm moving on campus next year cuz im tranferring colleges (im at a community college now). I was thinking the same thing except I was thinking about selling late night sandwiches like when the party's let out cuz at the college I'm going to most party's let out at 2am and theres a little time before the after-partys so they can set up shop. I was lookin at turkey sandwiches and other meats u can get at a deli but hotdogs seem good too.

    Oh nice!

I am also in community college, what college are you transferring to?

Did you think about your business model for that idea? Or did it just pop in your head one day?

That's fantastic. But make sure you are able to market yourself and always serve the best food possible. Dont compromise on quality. And last, but by no means the least, always be open to new contacts...it will take you places.

Lol, sometimes you have to put in the work to get somewhere. Not a bad idea for a venture, just make sure to get all the necessary permits and licenses. Remember- if the home isn't zoned for commercial, you may have a tough time if the cops decide to show up and 'check up' on things.

this is a tried and tested idea .....
definitely go ahead if there's not much competetion.

Your plans for publicity are good. I would suggest you have a website which you can point to in your email signatures and business cards.

Its called Rider, about 4,000 students. Very small school I would say compared to like FSU and Ohio State.
