What do I need to start baking classes out of my home??

I want to teach kids to bake and to have classes up to 8-10 kids per class from my home. What kind of licensing would I need? Is this allowed to from a home? Would my home need to be inspected? I have this great idea and want to work on it but don't know where to start. As of now it's just an idea, so what would be my next step?? How do I find out what I can and cannot do? I live in California btw.

Inafishbowl.com is a great resource for anyone in your position hoping to start a business. Start-ups, no matter what business they are, tend to face similar issues, and this website allows you to follow the experiences of three start-up businesses and learn from their journeys and from the advice of the Expert Panel who give suggestions along the way. You may be particularly interested in Marcela in Fishbowl Two, as she is running a Mexican food range called Rico Mexican Kitchen which started in her home.

I think that if you are passionate about something, you can make it work. Baking with kids sounds like a great idea - I have a lot of great memories of cooking with my mum. If only I had retained a little more of that information, I might be a better cook today!

Get a business license, work on your house at some spot to be look like a bakery, buy tools for baking, get the children that you will need and you can start from that, no need to hurry and get big, it will come soon as long a syou give them good learning and service!
