Every time you make an 'I wish' comment there's a good chance you've just had a business idea.

99% of businesses aren't unique. People think they need to have some blazzam idea to get rich but how many millionaire property developers are there? Reataurant owners? Dentists? Car yard owners? Furniture manufacturers? Electronics stores? The list goes on...

Whenever I hear people whine I also take special note of what they say. Of course, the complaint must be valid enough and valuable enough that people will pay to remove the irritant from their life. I also simply look at where all of the money goes in the city I live (i.e. skiing in Vail, golf in Myrtle Beach) and see what related services/products I can provide since people are ready and will to spend money on those things there. I also contribute to a small business podcast that offers free small busienss ideas for students, it is in my signature, TeenBiz, which is another less mentally strenuous ;-) way to get ideas.

My advise is to look for gaps within the current market, and try to fill them. Thats what i do atleast, i admin you will not come up with the next big idea but its usefull for making some cash

As an entrepreneur you should be getting new ideas everyday. you should be looking at everything you do and saying to yourself "what can i do to make money in this situation"

I think if you find yourself asking the quest "what are some good ways to get business ideas?" you should not be an entrepreneur cause any entrepreneur should have ideas coming into him/her everyday. Otherwise just got get a job at wal-mart, cause your not gonna cut it as an entrepreneur.

Bit harsh, but I suppose you can interpret 'entrepreneur' in a few different ways. As an entrepreneur you may not be getting all the ideas, but you know how to put these ideas into practice.

The type of idea you're looking for depends on your goals. Personal, Career and financial goals all fit into the picture here. If you are looking for a business that you yourself want to run, then it has got to be something you can see yourself doing day in and day out and enjoy. If it's building a business to sell that your attempting, then it's all about market research.

Just sign up for my daily email, I send out a new business idea every day with basic instructions on why it is a good idea, how to market it, and where to get stock from. This has been running since Jan 1 so there are 32 ideas in the archive already. Hope you can find one you like.
