Hi my name is John and this is my first day posting on here. I currently work in the oilfield and have been interested for sometime in going into business for myself. Ultimately I would like to refurbish realestate/develop, but for now I am looking for investments in which I can maintain doing while I work or until I save/make enough money to actually do something like realestate. So lately I have been thinking of buying and resaleing things worth of value at auctions and resaleing them on things like ebay or elsewhere. I am a little skeptical of resaleing on ebay. Do people actually make good investment gains on ebay by buying and resaleing? I have also considered getting my automtive dealer license here in Texas in order to go to the exclusive dealer only auctions for good deals in making marginable gains off the single auction investment. Iv also considered going to the public car auctions, but have my doubts in if I could really make good returns on those public car auctions by resaleing from them, as the public is open to them... so I would think you are not getting those great deals that you would get at an exclusive auction. Anyways I am just looking for ways to make extra cash on my off time or while at work, have about 10,000 to play around with. Would like to make an educated investment though. On buying and resaleing I feel like there is room to make extra cash doing so on my off time if I first can educate myself in the right direction, rather than just making blind gambles. Also if I were to first start off buying and saleing what is the best way to go about appraising these investments I make (for the items I dont know the values), and what is the best way to go about resaleing them... places like ebay?

Anyways I know I am obviously a complete amature, but I am very interested in learning ways to make extra cash on a small level for now. So that maybe eventually I can one day do things on a larger one. If I had enough capital now I would probably invest in realestate or businesses within the oilfield which I know would make substantial gains, but it takes money to make money and I am just looking to start on a small level. So any comments or ideas would be much appreciated.
