What are people's thoughts on fair trade? (plus $10,000!)

Hey all,
I was hoping to get some feedback on an idea I have been working on to promote fair trade products (and higher end stuff that is responsibly sourced) in the developing countries where they are produced! I know the sector as a whole has been growing very rapidly the last few years along with anything labeled "green".

My idea is here and is one of 8 finalists for a $10,000 business ideas competition:
Idea: South South Brands - promoting responsible consumerism in developing countries! - Ideablob: where ideas grow

Would appreciate votes from the YE community and encourage anyone to jump into the contest for next month. It is sponsored by a credit card company and a few hundred votes seems like it is enough to win -- so basically just an internet popularity contest

Based on the very brief description, I would not vote on your idea. Tell me how you plan to do it, what all it entails. Convince me of its viability.

Fair trade is inane. It goes against EMT. If they can't get a higher price and make a living they should be squeezed out and go into another more profitable business.
