Well-know OR rare? Need opinions.

Ok, So i am highly specialed in a sector of business, and i am starting my own company to sell These products. I used to work in the industry with ground breaking sales records so i know the business quite well. My question is, Would you rather sell well known brands and products that you know will sale fast, Or sellvery high end specialized products that sell at a much higher price but only to a select market??

I can handle either customer, the delemma i come to is selling the higher priced product i knwo i could succeed very well but it take a large capital investment to aquire products. What are your veiws?

Ps i appologize for my spelling, this is a new keyboard I'm not yet used too.

start off on the low product and move your way up when you have the capital. then you can do both.

Agreed. Niche products tend to (not always) have fairly high variable costs to make/buy. So you would need to have a lot of cash tied up in a relatively small amount of stock. You would be selling less of the niche products at a higher price...but if they aren't popular you won't be selling a whole lot.

Stick to the low-order products for now as adam suggested and once you have enough cash in your account to help you through any hard times, you can start with your niche products.

It wouldnt be too hard to sell the higher end products i still have a rolodex of customers. Keep in mind i havent talked to some of these people in a year or so. And i cant sell both at the same time its like having hons at a Lamborginhi dealership

Well in that case maybe you shouldn't be asking for opinions, you seem to have made your mind up.

I agree with grizzly it looks like you have made up your mind, but remember the higher profits are at the higher end of the market. So instead of selling a $5 and making $.50 on it you could sell a $500 and make $50 on it.

i dont know the exact markup i was using it as an example and it can depend on what products you are selling as well.
