    Smile Websites for Startups

    Hallo!

After running a webdesign company for serveral years I want to try something new now. That is why I set up www (DOT) philippknoll (DOT) com
It is not a webdesign site, so it has no flashy graphics to it. The purpose of the site is to help people to get their own online business started.

I try to do so in two ways:

    1)
I posted an offer! I will set up a complete business website, for anyone willing to contact me, for only $100. All features included, no strings attached!

    2)
I try to help people for free by posting qualitative articles on how to start and promote their online business successfully.

I'd be interested in your opinion. What do you think about my approach and the $100 project?

Also I just started a blog contest: www (DOT) philippknoll (DOT) com/win-a-free-website
Anyone in need of a free business website can join in. Simply subscribe to my rss feed by email using the subscription form at my website.

The prizes are two business websites set up for free!

If you decide to subscribe only for the articles I am more than happy to have you on board.

    Looking forward to your responses,
    Philipp Knoll

It seems to me that for all intents and purposes this is a web design company. The core services you're offering are still web design and copywriting, correct? You're just offering prices lower than most other firms charge.

    Smile @ RLorenzen

Off course, webdesign is a big part of what I do. I think it has more to do with how I see myself. My intention used to be selling websites. Now that has changed. Believe it or not, I want to help peolpe starting a business. I am not an accountant or have the money to provide funds for sturtups. What I can do is set up websites PLUS help these young businesses to get started and help them with their promotion.

If you still see me as a webdesigner only, I am fine with that. It is what I do - only there is more to it!

    Best wishes,
    Philipp Knoll

I was worried about the same thing?
Yet, it is a project I started and I'm excited to see where this is taking me.
I had two single moms about to start an online business contacting me today. For them this offer really makes sense. They don't really have the funds for more. I know what I am speaking of being the father of 3.
Using my offer they have a chance to start their business with a quality website instead of something they set up for themselves and probably spend months on.
Being a part of this and hopefully seeing them succeed is a great thing! That is my motivation!

As a web/graphic designer myself, I have come to learn that clients like personalized quotes more than a standard fee for a site.

You could still offer the same service, a "web package for business" along with "small business consulting", just have like two tiers: a basic package for $100, or a personalized package that you would quote accordingly based on complexity of the project. Both come with business consulting.

This would take some skepticism out of your deal. Really good idea though, I kind of offer the same thing, just not together. I have my design business, and I have my information blog.

    Good luck with your venture.
