Lightbulb Website Idea: need feedback (pic)

I am seriously considering building the following website for DU students:

Project Outline:

Target customer: University of Denver students, Denver community

The website will be a sort of bulletin board for DU students and the community. It will probably have 5 sections to start with: 4Sale, Work, Events, Clubs, Ads.
- 4Sale: This section is similar to eBay – students (and ‘outsiders’) will be able to list any items they want to sell through a form on the website, including up to 3 images. The sections will have a few subcategories: textbooks, cd/dvd, electronics, cars/bikes, etc. Users will be able to browse the listings and view contact information of the sellers to arrange the sale with them – users will not be able to purchase the items through my site, it will only bring the seller and the buyer together (should work fine because the students can arrange the transaction on campus).
-Work: This section will be split in two categories: work offered and work needed; work needed part will be subdivided into on-campus and off-campus sections. Both offered and needed sections will have subcategories: tutoring, notetaking, etc. Users will be able to submit all the info (job title, hours, pay, description, etc) through an online form and upload one image.
-Events: In this section users can let others know about any upcoming events, on and off campus. If some individual, student organization, or off-campus venue is having a party, they can advertise it on the website with text and up to 3 images. This section will be divided into on and off campus sections, which will be further divided in a few categories: parties, exhibitions, speeches, concerts, etc. Once again, all the info and images will be submitted via an online form.
-Clubs: This section will be dedicated to student and off campus organizations. They can let others know about themselves with text and images, post a schedule of their meetings and various announcements. Info submitted through an online form.
-Ads: This section is for various Denver community companies (retailers, night clubs, event centers, etc). They will be able to advertise their venue/store to the students with images, description, “What’s going on” section for current/upcoming sales, events, etc. For example, the local Great Clips can let others know about their $5 OFF any haircut promo. Online form info submission applies.

All listings are free for DU students in any section of the website. Varied small fees with be charged for ‘outsiders’ for all types of listings. I would like to be able to accept credit card/PayPal payments.

Every registered user will have an account page with a profile (with a picture), contact info, billing history, ‘manage listings’ function, etc.

As stated above, all information for listings will be submitted via the website. I want this info (text/images) either sent to my email account, or better, stored online. I will take this info and build a listing based on templates and post it on the website within 24 hours.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I plan to make most of the money from listing fees and some from Google ads on the site.

What do you guys think? How's the idea? What else can I add? What would you remove/modify? Think it will fly?

Here's a design for the website I made, it'll look something like that:

I know they have something like that at my school (http://www.lspot.ca/), but I had a chat with Danny from http://www.vancouverxchange.com/, they seem willing to license out their technology.

PM me if you want his e-mail

I think Craigslist is somewhat similar to what you're thinking of doing. They are quickly growing in popularity and have a site for each major city.

I think you have a great idea and it could really take off if you focus on simplicity and ease-of-use.
