If a website has more to it than just graphics and text (e.g. user registration, newsletter sign up, password protection, content management), the market price usually starts from $1,000 and can go up very high depending on the complexity of the project. Normally, a dynamic site runs for $2,500-5,000.

Now, to develop a website is just the first step to success. the next, even more important step, is to PROMOTE YOUR WEBSITE. Most people spend money buying google ads, but those will only keep you afloat as long as you pay google.

The most effective way is to optimize your site so that google and other major search engines can pick your site up in unsponsored links. To achieve the latter, you need to do Search Engine Optimization (Search Engine Optimization).

If you are about to get a new website, you should hire someone who does it all (website design, programming and Search Engine Optimization) to get the most out of your buck.
