Web developing; help please : )

I don't know if this is the right place for this, but whatever. My goal is to become a godly web developer--I want to be able to build sites such as Myspace, Facebook, Amazon, Ebay, hotornot, Friendster, Bebo, etc.

I feel like I'm getting a late start at this at 21 years old, but I was led down this path and here I am, so enough of that, lol. I'm just starting out and need to know what all programs/languages I need to know to create pretty much anything and everything. I've done some research and this is what I've come up with so far, but it could be completely wrong.

    1) XHTML

    2) CSS

    3) Javascript

    4) PHP

    5) SQL

    6) AJAX

Am I missing something? Should I learn them in a different order? Is that too many things and I can omit something? etc.

If you could make a list of what you think (like the one I did above) that would be extremely helpful--thanks!

A great way to learn would be to set up your own web server, & implement a web page you can either view yourself or open up to the internet.

Take an old PC that's kicking around, install a LAMP setup (I recommend this one), then go to it. You'll learn a lot just by trying to build a site yourself. You can learn a lot along the way by googling for various tutorials on html, php, mysql, etc.

Learn Basic HTML first. I know everyone says it outdated... and its not much different from Xhtml... but.... Its the basis for just about everything in coding. I only have some PHP, HTML,Xhtml,Mysql, CSS, and java... but it enough to mak some sites and start. I would suggest get already working items, templates and scripts. Tear em apart and put em back together. This is how i ahve done it. I may not be a guru.. But nothing is out of my range of possibity. I did crash course in PHP, but it allowed me to do this site.... http://www.spytekohio.com

Plus.. there are other things as well Like SEO, Keywords and all that jazz. I am not saying i know what iam odoing. But i can say, i amwas where you are two years ago

    hey...

once again - i'm not trying to tell anyone to leave this forum, but here's a link to a forum that I found really helpful when i started out with web design http://dynamicdrive.com/forums/

Covers all the languages you need to know etc.

A great way to learn is to have a look at a template and see how the designer put it together etc. then try and recreate it yourself.

your list is great, these languages are primarily used. All you need to do is find a good server.

Don't forget to share it when it is finish. Best of luck!
