When designing my website how much web designs out there is actually copywrited? For example amazon and several big companies have a second option pop out when your cursor browses a title in the product section to show the sub titles to that product.

Could I get in trouble for using that in my ecommerce? Also Zappos has its gender catorgories placed on the sides of its site.

If I was to do something like this would I have to deal with a lawsuit?
