Wanting to start a Resale Business

I am starting from scratch, but basically I would like to create a web site that I can sell products on. These products would be things such as sunglasses or something that I would by in bulk from a wholesale dealer and then resell those items individually on my web site and ebay. I am not sure where to start with getting this planned out and what all I need to know/do before I can actually run something like this. It would strictly be sold through the site and ebay. Do I need to obtain a license or anything to do this? Where can I get these wholesale dealers that I know are reliable and not a scam. Also, any advice, tips, or recommendations for me?

    Thanks

    Hi
If you are buying a product wholesale, you need to know which wholesale distributors will be the best in providing you with the product. You should make a note of following points when you choose a wholesale dealer.

1)Look for a supplier who will provide you with primary information of a firm.
2)Locate the supplier who could be contacted easily.Beware if the supplier only provides you with an email to contact them or they don't provide any company information.
3)Generally, you can find huge lists of such suppliers online, but most of the times these lists can be scams make sure that you don't get trapped in one.

I think this is a best idea. but at the start you need advertise your business by using PPC. Because your website will take lot of time to appear on the first page of Google.

Well one of the things I would suggest is that you make sure you are focused on a specific niche. I am sure that you know there are several competitors in the space. So what does an entrepreneur do? Think strategically and offer a better service than the big boys. It could be kids, women, men etc. or college students etc. and that way you can expand your business. A lot of entrepreneurs do this when they have to face multi-billion $ companies and often times succeed doing just this. Good luck!

Ok, so I figured I would do sunglasses as my focus, and maybe get more specific with it, but not sure yet. I was wondering though, say I use the site worldwide brands .com, I basically get to advertise as many pairs of lets say sunglasses as I want, with out paying anything upfront. I only pay when I make a sale. Is this correct? Also, do I need any sort of license to have an online store, or anything else I might need? What all do I need to do to be 100% legal and legit? Thanks for the feedback!

You will need a business license to buy from other wholesalers majority of the time. To use world wide brands and to get a good deal you would need to buy merchandise in bulk. Are you trying to drop ship? You are aware that world wide brands is just a directory with different distributors? Start researching and going to trade shows. I haven't came across any sunglasses wholesalers. If you need wholesale clothes from macys email me though.

Why sunglasses? If you are set on that, maybe you can go into the knock off brand market and sell good quality fake sunglasses. The economy is down but people still like to seem like they have money...
