Arrow Wanting to start a business

    Hello! I'm new to YE.com
I am fifteen years old, and a freshman in highschool.
I know I am probably younger than most of the people on this site, but i have just as much drive.
i really want to start a business, though i just do not know exactly what i want to do! I know in my future i want to do something in Fashion Public Relations - does anyone on here happen to know anything that someone my age could do that would have to do with that?

Though I am open to anything! Mostly i want to do this for exprerience, but also to begin an actually business that I will hopefully profit much money in by the time I am out of highschool.

If I could do anything I would want to:
be able to promote bands or clothing lines on the internet.
does this seem like a realistic industry for someone my age to break in to?

Any questions I will be happy to answers!

    Thank so much!

(I apoligize for typos im watching tv while typing)

Hows it going.. I'm a sophomore in highschool (16) and I was making some good money back in freshman year.

to start off.... How much money can you afford to invest right now?
thats your biggest enemy.. if you can find the capitial for a project, you will most likely be somewhat successfull.

Is tough being a minor beucase of all the liceenseing laws and such...

But since your into fashion, you could start a small website.. for instance ( ARCClothing.com) buy a heat press machine, transfer papers.. and a nice printer and sell your customized tshirts... you can draw up all the designs on your spare time..

    Thats a low investment.

Number one rule.... don't EVERRRR let anyone tell you that your too young to be operating a business. Thats all I heard freshman year. A year later.. RickyCEezImports was started and Ive made well over 15,000 importing clothing from china, then selling them to flee market and discount store vendors.

    Ricky :
Well i am trying to get into the fashion industry but not as a tee/clothing designer like you just expressed in your post. What i want to do is promote OTHER people's designs and brands or bands.

Essentially what i want to produce is an online marketing business. i want to be able to advertise other peoples businesses through the web, while gaining a profit and making my business known.

I know that, but my point is that us being minors.. limits us to what we can and can't do. I have MUCH experience in the investing field for a sophomore in highschool and ive tried internet marketing. Its hard work. Its also not likely you can land a deal with someone.NOT ONLY IS IT EXPENSIVE to design a website that someone would even look twoards you to do there media. What you wanna do, is start a small business.. make some cash.. take that money and THEN go for your dreams of internet marketing. You dont wanna put ALL you have into a project thats too tough. Have somethign to fall back on.

You also dont have any prof designing experience. So why not start small designing tshirts? You turn a profit while getting your name out there.

Well if not starting as doing online marketing, i suppose i should just completely skip over it, as when i turn 18 i am moving to california and interning for my cousin's Fashion Public Relations, then getting a job for her business (very successful in the los angeles area) and she wants me to end up owning it. So since it would take a while to start someone else and eventually make my way into internet pr, i may aswell do something else since i will begin in real PR right after highschool.

What do you think i should potentially do online to make money, while also enjoying it. i have experience in graphic design, photography, and writing. which is why i would love the support a band with my designs. Maybe i should just begin promoting and making graphics for bands - what has been holding me back from that is that i have a friend who does the same and currently works with Paramore, many production companies, and his own clothing line.

Well aside from ebay, i started to buy cheap turnkey sites. I spread the word did some advertising.. and Ipodjam.com which I am currently selling for $375, i bought for $99. Now, not only will i be profiting around 300$ In Feb and march i made $140 off advertisng..So it would be a total of $450 profit... meanwhile I barley put in ANYYYYYYYy effort what so ever. NOR DID I EVEN HAVE GOOD ADSENSE ON IT... if i did the profit would be more like 300$ a MONTH.

If your looking to do a website, you can do it for a relatively small investment if you do it yourself. Marketing other peoples clothes sounds like a good idea if it is done right. IM me to discuss this further.
Conservative opinions from someone who thinks a little differently than most.

If you are going to invest money right now invest in education-
1- Buy books on public relations
2- Buy books on Starting a Business
    3- Buy books on Marketing
4- Buy books on working in the Fashion Industry

    Get Experiance
1- Get a job at a clothing store- preferably one that allows you to specialize in a line.
2- Look for internships at design studios in your area
3- Find forums more specific to your goals and start to participate

    Don't
Get a website for the sake of having one
Invest in anything until you have more knowledge & experiance

You are at a perfect age to start building a base towards a very successful career. If had known at 15 what I wanted to be (besides a beer guzzling athlete) I may be further along in my career now.

You seem like you have a good opportunity once you turn 18 so start preparing for it now. Also, I think Paramore broke up a few months ago... so they may not need design services...

educate... work hard... repeat process... key to success

"rogercbryan" made so many excellent points....
Right now at your age you need to educate yourself as much as possible. Read books, intern, and network like crazy. Never let anything hold you back. Yea you're a minor so it'll be a little harder for you but all you need to do is make a statement in front of the right person and that could be your fortune. NO IT'S NOT AS EASY AS IT SOUNDS. But never give up! PLEASE DON'T!
    Impossible is Nothing.
