Want to start a skateboard shop, should i get an LLC?

I have never owned a business before. I was wondering what are all the steps I need to take to start a retail shop. And in what order do I need to take the steps? Do I get a EIN first? Or file for LLC? Do I really need an LLC?
Any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

I would file an LLC. They are usually pretty inexpensive and protect you from being personally liable for anything that may happen, unless you are proved to be negligent in preventing an accident etc... (piercing the corporate veil).

Yes, you should always get an L.L.C. or some type of business entity to protect yourself. What state are you in? You can probably do the paperwork yourself for a couple hundred bucks in lieu of hiring an attorney who will charge you a pretty penny
