Waht do you think of my new logo?

My designer just sent me this..... what do you think?

The name of the company is go-gets (Gogets.com)

The site is going to focus on business resources
    go get Search Engine Optimization
    go get traffic
    go get directories
    go get articles
    go get original content
    go get classifieds

.... so the guy is supposed to be running to 'go get' you something...

Damn... my file is 300K... and its a protected pdf... any ideas?

the font used was impact, I wouldn't have gone with such an overused tired font. The guy running is kinda cute if you want that catoony thing. Make sure that your designer gives you a vector file if you ever need to modify it or get it printed or enlarge it. If he did not do this in vector that is not a good sign.

I wouldn't pay him more than $5. Saying that, the logo probably isn't worth putting on your site.
I'd happily create a new logo for you, free of charge if you provide the clipart.

This person has done a ton of logo's for me and I've always been happy with her work. If I had the clip art to provide you then all you would need to do is add text... doen't make much sense.

I'd rather you make one from scratch and I pay you for it. I'm open to suggestions... but sying its not worth more then $5 is very vauge... what makes you say this?

it looks like clip art to begin with thats the problem. The idea is good just the execution is not very modern, clean or new or exiting. I am sure your designer has done good stuff for you in the past and if your happy with it than that is all that matters. But I am afraid to say this might not be her best work. How much are you paying her to design the logo? do you get unlimited revisions? you dont have to answer that if you feel uncomfortable doing so just curious.

I was intending on replacing the typography. Unfortunately I've got no time for professional work. The value placed on the logo is based upon the fact that you can find higher quality clip-art downloads for free all over the internet. The logo can be made within a minute. The designer locates his clipart folder, finds a matching clipart, opens it and adds text. If he made the clipart himself the line quality is very poor and the value remains the same. Minimal work & effort, nothing special. Calling himself a designer he could have at least used a pro. font.

The cartoon guy running will make your site look cheap to me. There MUST be a better logo then that.

I agree... does anyone think they can do better... I asked my designer for a redraft and the second version was worse. Branding is going to be very important to me with my new company so I need a logo that will WOW people. The new site will go beta in 2-4 weeks so I'm on a bit of a time crunch.

Any ideas... or recommendations for companies you have used before?

If I want a good logo I run a contest on Digitalpoint forums for $20, I get to pick from about 10 submissions usually.

Unfortunately, I would have to agree with Strategy. It seems very amateur. Something tells me you weren't very specific with your instructions to your designer. If you want to continue using this designer, you should tell them exactly what you want. If you're not sure what you want, then I would move to a different designer, as you will want something quite a bit more attractive. I would lose the clip-art look, and add some dimensions to the words, such as embossing the letters to make them look 3D, because what you have there doesn't portray the company very well at all. Here's an example of what I mean.
