Value of Brand Image

I was just wondering how important everybody feels their brand image is?

by this i mean, do you think investing in (a) professionally designed logo/branding as a startup is a good idea? Big companies that make the big bucks in the public eye, seem to all have perfectly designed logo's, brand guidlines that are stuck to on every piece of ambient media they produce. Now, even though we offer this for a fraction of the price, something that anybody could afford, not enough start-ups seem to value the power of the visual in helping customers relate to their brand. Perhaps spending 150-200gbp on a set of stationary, brand guidlines, logo, business cards even brochures is too much?

just wondering what you guys/gals think of this.

cheers.

Generic names like billybob Solutions, Performance Printing, or Innovative Technologies will just make you spend more and work harder at building a brand.

As you say the big companies that make the big bucks, yes they do have great branding, its why they are where they are. But Start-ups thats different, they all start somehwere then learn, grow, and most of the time fade out.

Startups don’t always have the legs they need to carry them through all the different stages and will likely drown in the sea of sameness. Being descriptive - as opposed to being generic - is not a bad thing for names. Given your limited budget, it can actually be a great way to go.

Try to be original so your name stands out, so it means something, so you can own it, and so it will be much harder to copy.

yeah, we are the branders not the brandee's. as it where, i just think if startups invested in proper branding earlier, which may or may not include a change of name and maybe even business ethics that the public can see to get a better usp, then more of them would be successful in their aims.

I think that the value of brand image is very important. A recognized brand is very important in the business world. You do not have to be a huge company to gain brand awareness. It is an important factor in creating your business and setting itself apart from your competition. It also gives your company a professional look.
