Eh, I think it would be good in the right city and area. You would have to look VERY profesional. Things could EASILY go down hill when someone sues you for "missing" or missing a valueable item.

    Get your company name registered
    Find employees
I'm pretty sure some insurance is in order.

general liability insurance, garage keeper insurances and workers comp. for employees.

wouldn't there be some sort of contracts and agreement of payments? Or would I have to hire a lawyer for all of that?

There is great money in this. I'm sure price ranges can vary but its about €30 to have your car valeted here.

hahaha I am a car valet in hershey PA and I can tell you there is deff. money to be made if its done correctly. The work is easy and employees can be paid below min. wage thanks to tips. If a 15 or 20 dollar fee is applied to each car and you have a busy area there is certainly money there. on the downside a garage needs to be purchased and insurance and security are expensive costs. let me know and keep me posted

Through college, I worked first for a valet parking company at a major entertainment center in my area and then for a private valet parking company that did only private parties and requests.

    GREAT money.

    Some liability associated.

Its more about the image that you present and how you differentiate from the competition.

We were called "Valet of the Dolls" (www.valetofthedolls.com) - all girl valet company that could do themed costumes if necessary. We did everything from Pamela Anderson's birthday bash to Grammy After parties and corporate events in between. Lots of fun.

What I do know - from a business perspective is that the owner needed business licenses in EACH of the cities we did parties (because of the liability insurance associated with people's vehicles). It also required a good relationship with various police departments (in order to get streets blocked off and temporary no-parking signs and placards).

Align yourself with event planners and caterers - where you can offer packaged services.

This is exactly the type of valet I wanted to have. I am going to have to go to the library or somewhere and find out what contracts are involved...

The toughest obstacle you must overcome is finding insurance to cover you. It was going to $4000/month to cover me for $150,000 with a $4000 deductible, that is until I met my business partner. I still do not know how he pulled this off, but he ended up getting us a plan through a friend of his for $1400/ YEAR for $1,000,000 in liability insurance with a $500 deductible. I would not recommend any coverage less than $100,000. After you find a descent insurance the next hurdle is getting your first account, preferably with a restaurant. You can also get your foot in the door by doing private parties or corporate events just to get your name out there, and begin to build your companies reputation.

Let me know how I can help you, I'd love to help you get started

    Thanks
Good Information! I still did not see anyone say to write a business plan. This is a key step towards getting your business up and running.

Interesting conversation we have here. A lot of interesting experiences. Insurance are the most important. Also training for the drivers.
In addition, can add some touch with simple car touch up service, like air freshener, windows wiping, vacuuming. Value add for more income.

Also a uniform is important to have the pro look.
