Using other website links in your website

This question is for those who are familiar with linking articles from other sites...

What are the proper steps that you have to take when linking an article to your site? (to avoid copyrite issues)

What if you want to post the article as your own? (as in owned by the website)

For example: You have a poker website and you want your website to have articles from other websites, poker players, etc. without linking to the actual website. (Causing them to go to that website instead)

    Thanks in advance

Make sure you cite the original source. Whatever you do, don't claim or leade one to believe that someone else's work is your own.
