    Unmotivated?

What do you guys do when your feeling unmotivated to work on your business? I'm currently feeling unmotivated with one of my websites and I'm looking for a new way of thinking that will help me become motivated.

I do research on the competition. It helps build a sense of competition and always works to get me back on track. Other times I go a complete different direction and see what else is available to see what I may want to get into next.

If I'm not passionate about my business, I move on. Unfortunately this won't help a lot of people. I tend to not have motivational issues but best I can advise is look towards your future goals and see if your business meets that and your passion.

SEO competition works well to motivate me as I can sneak through their weaknesses especially on the use of their targeted keywords. That way, I can say I still have this great chance to get ahead of them once I make such changes. Keyword research has been always challenging and crucial for me to get ahead of them so that's the best way to start.

If i get unmotivated, I take an extended break -- 1 or 2 days. I know that I love my business and I want to pursue it further, and I keep reminding myself that this current unmotivation is just a state of mind...probably due to stress or lack of sleep

    Hey Dedicated,

Great question, and some great responses so far. I find that reading books, like Crush It, or Rework (as some newer examples) keeps me motivated. Also, check out YouTube for some great motivational video content. Sometimes you just need to fill your brain with positivity juice!

If there's something specific that you feel is holding you back, be sure to ask your questions here. Sometimes bouncing things off other entrepreneurs helps too.

    To your success!
    John

I guess I had an opposite problem with a similar effect. I have always been overly motivated but tend to loose focus on the main objective and start on something else. I always enjoyed the start up phase, 1,2 or even 3 years whatever it took to get it where I had envisioned and then my eyes would drift elsewhere. I have always envied those who are motivated by money alone, I see business as a creative outlet and the money simply indicates that the plan worked. I am getting older now and seem to be more focused. Planning to start something new about January of next year and sorting through about a 1/2 dozen possibilities. Steve
