Unless you have money, forget about it.

Simple fact is, if you don't have money, you won't succeed.

If you don't have contacts, you won't succeed.

Any business you see thats successful, had a VC injection in normally in the millions. In order to get that, they had money to build the site, spread the word and connect with VC's in order to negociate.

Little people don't have that and in this economy it's really seperated the "wanna be entreprenuers" and the ones who are going to make it big and RUB IT IN YOUR FACE.

I'm just sayin, if you're in a position where you're living paycheck to paycheck and you think entrepreneurial stuff is your ticket out, forget about it. The system we live in splits us right down the middle.

If you don't have credit, and don't have money, you will NEVER GET OUT. at 30% interest, your debt will keep you down there pretty much until you die because you have to work to barely meet the minimum payments let alone make any headway into getting rid of your debt.

Just forget about it guys... don't bother asking for investments here, or asking if your idea is good... it doesn't matter. You could have the best idea ever, you aint got a shot. Might as well give it to someone with money and hope he has the heart to share the success with you, although, being a business guy he wont.

AHHAHA, life sucks, get used to it, and tell youre kids how you were duped into getting student loans to 'get a better income' and end up spending the resto f your life paying it off.

    1. about .0001% of people are born with contacts. You have to go out and make them. It can be sooner or it can be later so don't say it's impossible.
    2. A lot of businesses are started without that injection. You don't need it initially. If you have a good idea, VC's will be knocking on your door after you've already begun. Many owners use VC injections to grow.
    3. I've seen people in debt come out of it on top too, so it's not impossible, just makes things more difficult.
    4. Many Members (But not all) on here will tell you the truth about your idea.

    1. You're right. Network is key here folks. And YE is a great place to start... you can also google other entrepreneur sites too. Find someone who shares you're passion and go for it!
    2. You're right again! You don't need money to have a good idea. Your brain is free! Use it, and go with it. If you don't have money for a custom site, you can use free things to help you get started. That's the goal here, to get your idea down and get it seen. If people like it, you will be contacted. Don't let the fear of the unknown get in the way.
    3. It doesn't have to be difficult. Contact your debtors and explain your situation. Their bottom-line is getting their money back. Simple as that, so they WANT to work with you, not against you. You can get out of debt, you just have to negotiate and budget. Don't let debt stop you from pursuing your PASSION.
    4. They will tell you their opinion on your idea, which is great! Valuable feedback can only do good for your idea. Use it to help direct you to your success. As long as you take their opinion as a piece of the puzzle, not a be-all, end-all, you WILL succeed. Keep your head up and go for it!
*You're right again Chase. Don't be afraid... be empowered!*

    I tend to agree.
My perspective is that entrepreneurship is a skilled occupation.
One of the skills is the ability to aggregate resources outside of the founder's control.
I've never met one founder who has always had at hand the necessary resources they needed to start their venture.
The successful entrepreneurs are those who are able to use the long list of tactics and techniques to access the resources that they need.
It's just a skill, and one that's teachable. Enough said.

I'd say the VAST majority of successful businesses are started without a huge injection of venture capital. Barring all the psychological barriers to success, it's the lack of market research, knowledge, planning and strategic execution that keeps most people from turning their ideas into successful businesses. There are ways to acquire funding for your business or purchase an existing business even if your credit sucks. There are ways to acquire valuable business assets without using your own money, but since most people aren't aware these methods exist, they don't try. Things are only impossible until you know how to do them.

Well it is still possible to start out without money or contacts initially but I do agree with you that to be successful you at least need to start building your contacts pretty fast.

It's not what you no and it's not who you no, its who knows you that matters. If you play the game right its not hard to network and make friends with people at the top.

Akula is right entrepreneurship is a skilled occupation even if you have the funding and the network it still doesnt mean you will succeed.

You will never succeed with this attitude. Everyone is capable of achieving greatness, all you have to do is commit to it. I was raised in poverty and continued to be in poverty until I was 27. I now own a multi-million dollar business. It is possible for anyone, even you!

You are so negative. You will never get anywhere with that attitude. Don't tell other people they can't do it just because you can't or don't believe you can.

HUH? What is this guy talking about? Is your name Danny Downer? Man, you would be surprised at what you can do if you really knew how to do something to make real good money at home. But, because you don't know how, you think others can't do it without help or friends.

This isn't the corporate world, this is online. The wonderful thing about making money at home, online, is that corporate mumbo jumbo doesn't fly here. You will only do well online with lots of hard work, not kissing someones ass.

I spend 52 dollars a year on my business. Its for my unlimited hosting package to host multiple websites. I have been making money at home with websites for 12+ years. Everything I do is all free. From my marketing and SEO tactics(which I am very good at, I might add), to my knowledge of business and customer service. I make real good money and I didn't have any startup money except my 52 bucks a year and some ideas. Sometimes I splurge and throw in 100 bucks at adwords for a couple months to spice up my traffic levels, but all in all, it doesn't take a lot of money to make money online.

A little time and dedication and you can do anything! Get rid of that negative, Danny Downer, attitude if you want to succeed. Start being positive or nothing positive will come to you.

A little Ben Franklin Saying that works for me "Work like you are going to live 100 years, play like you are going to die tomorrow".

Having a good attitude isnt going to plop 100 grand in your lap. And if you have poor, fair, or hell even good credit these days isnt enough to get a loan. So what are you going to do? Ask a VC or angel to fund your little venture 100% when YOU doing have anything to lose yourself because you have nothing to begin with?..ya good luck with that. lol. To me the glass is half empty. I try to have a good attitude, but I look at things realistically too.

    I disagree.

You can go out and try to figure out different ways to fund your idea. Your response is ridiculous that there's no way to not get funding.

You can find a co founder if you don't have enough money to start. You may have to split the company in half but if you have no money otherwise, why not do it and try and make enough money to then buy out your co founder or sell your shares and go onto the next thing.

You have to figure out what your strengths are and play off those. If you have nothing, that's bull, everyone has something.
