    University Forum

I want to make a Forum for the Universities in my area. The problem im coming to is what sections to have in the forum. The only one for sure is the party and club section for promoters to promote without being told to leave the forum. That will bring in a mass amount of people since Miami is a huge party city. I know there are alot of college students on this forum, maybe you could give me some ideas on good sections to include.

Ps. 70% of students do not live on campus, something to consider.

Pss. How much would it cost me to setup a forum like this one and is it hard?

    Don't forget Classifieds

Free if you use an open source software. Go for phpBB3 or SMF, they are great softwares. Or vBulletin if you're looking for the Lamborghini of all forums.

Wow...so that's how much it is right now huh? Thank goodness I bought a license a few months ago when it was slightly cheaper.

Never tried GoDaddy, but I've seen their prices and I think they're charging a bit too much...but if you're loaded, then go for it.

If you aren't able to set it up my coder can do it for you dirt cheap, probably around $20-$50 bucks. I always use this guy, very trustworthy.

Nah I hate Go-Daddy. Although they do have a 24/7 support line, I dont like there toolbars and "extras". If your only looking for a hosting company in terms of cheap pricing, then yeah, go daddy is prob your best bet.

I switched all my stuff to godaddy, I like them. Anyways, do you have any knowledge in web design? I mean basically to setup a vbulletin you need to know how to follow directions which may be a little technical in coding and such, but its not that hard. However, once you start trying to install new layouts, skins and applications to the forum things can get confusing.

Let me offer you a little advice, Without a web site or some type of promotion, a forum is really hard to get rolling and acquire active members, and if you are trying to make money with it, then you may as well forget it. But basically a forum should be step two in the process of developing your idea. For example...

First start a promotion company for college parties, then start the forum.

    My 2 cents
