How about Engineering? Any inside info there? Heading off to Sydney Uni (hopefully) this year and wondering whether I chose the most boring course available.

Heh, sounds like there's a good story behind that.

I WOULD recommend engineering. I found it very interesting!

Plus, it is a practical degree that will teach you to logically solve problems. Also, it's generally a very employable degree (should you be interested in being an employee).

Well, doesn't seem to be working very well where I am currently, i guess it depends on the society you live in, Australia is a very "behind" country.

For me, as a programmer, its probably best for you to learn .net and java, instead of things you will never use in life, ie B, Pascal, C, Haskell (or something). Its like, what the hell is the point in learn that? Doesn't help you at all.

I mean C is good since after that, everything becomes very easy, but the thing thats going to land you a job or help you create effective websites/windows apps is .net (1.1, 2.0, and above)

But thats just my opinion

JRayers,

You need to be more specific. (e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software, etc, etc.)

The reason Sicnarftea disliked Software Engineering is probably he wasn't passion about his field.

My background is a double E (Electrical Engineering) and I absolutely love it. I work for a defense company, so we design new state of the art products for the military.

Anyway, good luck with your career JRayers
