    Too young?

I am 17 years old and I have great ideas to Industrialize and Capitalize in the 2nd and 3rd worlds, but Everyone talk to just says "You're too young, no one will take you seriously" I have great ideas, but that is what is holding me back. Some people will be like, "Oh no one will work or buy from someone who failed Algebra II"

I want to be so powerful in the business world that when I walk by people they feel like they have to stand at attention to me. How can I disprove all these people?

Although this may be true, you must take into account MANY factors before trying to develop that kind of "identity" with anyone.

Education: what credentials do you hold that make your knowledge or experience that outstanding

Capital: What money do you have to put towards your venture or to show potential "investors" that you are a safe horse to bet on.

Reputation: What organizations do you belong to, size of professional network etc.

Experience: Although this is not ALWAYS defined by age this is definatley a factor that is acquired over time, just as age is. The general population will SIMPLY not put anything in the amount of realistic fear or respect towards and individual that does not show the scars of his work and drive through his professional career.

There is SO much more to take into account before trying to take any concept of international business, unless of course you are aiming to start scamming the other countries via email for lottery information.... yea... thats good business...

Id say, start with a business plan, work out your financial, get some mentors, join a couple community college classes etc. Start to get a feel for what your goals will really take. Then go from there.

On a serious note, I'm going to have to agree with P.

This is not necessarily true, when I was 18 I remember being mistaken as someone in my 20s becuase I dressed and talked as an adult - not a teenager.

I think people don't take you seriously not as much because of your age, but because you lack professionalism. How to improve? 1) I've seen 13 year olds with better grammar. 2) Stop changing your business every other day. 3) Get a solid business education.

I want to be so powerful in the business world that when I walk by people they feel like they have to stand at attention to me.
Be ready to be hated first. That respect takes a long time to gain and before getting it you have to go through hell and work your ass off.

How can I disprove all these people?
    Results.

All of those people who told you that are full of failure. They can't see themselves doing that, therefore, they think that you can't either. And plenty of people work for individuals who didn't even make it out of high school. If you've got an idea, and the drive and determination to go with it, forget those other people.

Well, confidence is good, if you are going to save the world from poverty, amazing!, but I can tell myself in my head all day im going to succeed and read all the self help books in the world but it won't grow me a money tree. A huge part of business is learning how to execute your idea, instead of trying to hit a home run out of the gate, test the waters with something that is viable, and confidence building. Sure, some people get lucky and have a single idea that explodes, but I like to think more realistically, there will be work and there will be failure.

You are in high school, sell trinkets out of your locker, build websites or something, prove yourself.

You can always see if you can partner with someone who is older and established to increase your name value. I personally think age doesn't matter, good ideas and execution do. Stay at it and keep your drive.

experience (good ideas and execution) are correlated with age. Although sometimes I tend to think that many businesses that fail are started by older people without experience.

    Results...ect. ect.

Get some experience trying something small first. Use your age to your advantage. Don't try to grow up too fast just because you see older billionaires on tv and you want to be like them. Sell things targeted to your piers. Try to get a system in place. Track your results. Even if you just sell used video games out of your locker, keep legitimate books for some accounting practice. Then scale up or move to a different industry with a little more experience.

Start small and build up. Use your age. Track your results.

But, i DO NOT want to wipe out poverty! That is why I want to some day build in the third world, because of cheap labor and lack of business laws.

AH I see, well, I dont know there are too many factors, I was just trying to suggest starting smaller, get your feet wet. Maybe that is bad advice, I dont know, I suppose im somewhat risk averse.
