Question To link? or not to link?

    That is the question!

I am considering creating a links page for a site of mine but can that potentially lose me business as well? Has anyone got any tips on linking please?

    thanks in advance

I've heard that having links on your site can send people right on from your site to another. However, if the sites are on unrelated subjects, that may not apply.

Actually, from my testing I've learned that a link directory page can actually be
an asset if you require reciprocal linking. There are free programs out there you
can find to help set up such a page. In other words, it will actually check to insure
other party has placed a link to your site before placing their link on your page.

If you set all links to open in a new window, then you don't have to worry about
your visitor being totally directed away from your page.

    Hope that helps a little.

Another great way but it takes forever to do is to find website close to yours in look/feel and traffic and email them to link with your site. A website owner who likes what they see from your site will gladly link to you if they think the website would help make their site better. I have tried it in the past and it worked well I usually send a personal email explaining what I want and see if I get a response. I found I got a lot of responses I think mainly cause the email were personal and the site owner could tell I was being genuine. Some real good links can go a far way if the websites you link with are high in traffic and receive repeat visits.
