    Lightbulb Thoughts on my idea.

    Hey guys,

First before I get to my idea, I would like to introduce myself to the forum. I'm currently a senior at Penn State University majoring in Economics. I've been an aspiring Entreprenour for many years with success in starting some companies and failure in others. I've been reading this fourm for a long time now (2 years or so) and I thought its about time to share my thoughts and ideas with you great people.

Now with my newest idea and defiantly most difficult idea, I would like your guys input. You see sites like Hulu.com starting up which stream shows on our major networks. I was thinking of an idea that would not only cut down the downloading of movies, but put millions upon millions into producers and production companies pockets.

What do you guys feel about the idea of streaming movies. A lot of people would like to watch new movies when they come out into the movie theaters, but maybe they are too lazy or have disabilities that limit them to do this. Basically this is a "Online Movie Theater" We will have movie times which the movie will stream live online, or it will be like on demand. Someone pays 7-8 dollars and will be able to watch movies as soon as they hit the theaters. This would be a one time viewing though. I'm still researching on where to start with this idea, but I would like some of your input and maybe ideas.

    Thanks guys!
    Eddie

I think you'll be hard pressed to aquire first-run right to stream on the internet from any major production company.

First run theater seats are 8-10 PER PERSON. How do you stop someone from having a showing with a room full of people and a large screen tv or projector?

Cool idea, but why would they want to pay the same amount that they would pay in a movie theater with the theater experience? Because it's at home and that's better? And I'm sure there would be a lot of legal work around this as I know that the movie theaters have distribution deals with companies such as Lions Gate. So, you would have to work out distribution deal with these distribution companies...something that may be very hard to do.

P.S. - I just decided to get on this site for a bit but don't see where I can post a thread. How did you post a thread? I don't see where I can start one...

If your under the general business section for instance on the top left hand side of that page you will see a a button that says New Thread.

Some people aren't as fortunate to make it to a movie theater to see movies. Also the reason why the price would be higher to watch it online would be because of the fact multiple people could watch it at one time.

Sorry. I don't really understand when you say some people aren't fortunate to make it to a movie theater. If you are targetting disabilities, i don't see a big market there...

I still prefer renting / buying a DVD and watch it with my HD TV.

and if my internet disconnected, can I stream on the part that I miss out ?

You can do something like Watch Movies Online For Free Full Movie Downloads

These are the newest movies and they're free to watch.
The movies aren't on their servers, they just link it to other websites which have the movie on the server.

Watch-movies-links.net is NOT illegal, however the websites that have the movies hosted on their server are ILLEGAL.

Please be advised that many video files, particularly those for recently released titles, may have a very short lifespan before they are removed from host sites. Watch-Movies-Links.net does not host, nor does it upload video files. Links are sourced and indexed only. For this reason, we cannot repair dead links. We do, however, endeavour to locate replacements as quickly as possible. We ask that members be patient and we apologise in advance for any inconvenience.

I agree with all the posts above. You may have far greater success with independent film producers that have a tough time getting distribution in movie theaters.

The Goose is already dying for movie studios...what you would be asking them to do is commit suicide. Still good idea-just consider independents.
