    Thinking of opening a kiosk

I'm looking at opening a kiosk in a busy shopping center selling hand painted contemporary art at an affordable price point (£40 - £50).

Just wondering if anyone think this type of product would have any demand? The demographics are majority of the shoppers are type B-D, 65% female. Alot of office workers during the lunch time.

I've calculated i would need to sell 2 paintings a day in feb to break even, rising to 3 per day in april. Thats if i employed someone full time. Which ofcourse I wouldn't do to start off with atleast.

    Thanks

    John

thanks MoneyMakingMadness. Do you know if they have a website I can have a look at?

I don't know if this is a bad sign or not but there was a upmarket classy shop downstairs in teh same shopping mall, however they have recently closed down. However I believe it was because they had the wrong price point for the area and demographic.

I want to offer affordable "real" hand painted art to the average person. The art gallery which closed was your typical if you have to ask you can't afford it shop I believe selling fine art.

I want to offer pop/contemporary/abstract art.

    UK shaun.

I do have a problem regarding display space. Kiosks don't obviously have that much room, I can probably display around 20 pictures. Does anyone know of any solution for this problem? Some sort of rack/display solution?

I'm in the US. Doesn't mean we can't work something out though....maybe have an American Artist part of your display?

I've taken the measurements for the kiosk and i think i could fit at most around 25 paintings on the stall. Art being so personal and subjective I think this might not be enough to be able to display a wide enough range of styles to cater to impulse buyers seeing something they like.

What peoples opinions on this? Perhaps a small shop where I could have a lot larger selection might be better suited?
