The Total Money Makeover

Hey all,

I've been reading:

The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey all this
week. It seems like a good, workable plan to get wealthy
but it's a very big contrast to the stuff most gurus teach
to succeed.

Have any of you tried the plan he suggests?

I recommend this book to anyone who is dealing with a mass of bad consumer debt. Ramsey places emphasis on creating more income [like getting a 2nd or 3rd job] and making extreme sacrifices [selling your possessions, eliminating all your "luxuries"]. If a person follows his plan, I can 99% guarantee that they won't get back into [bad] debt - with the amount of work and toil they do to get rid of it, they won't go back to it.

I suggested this book to a man a few months ago as a possible solution to his debt problem. Do you think he read it? Nope. He told me that he would just work harder to pay his bills. Wrong answer!

This guy was 46 years old and could hardely pay a $250 car note. He thought that "working harder" was the answer and has been doing that for most of his adult life, but obviously it isn't working for him.

Note: The definition of insanity is doing something repeatedly expecting a different result. My point? If what you're doing isn't working [like just working harder to get ahead], then you may need to reevaluate your thinking.

I recommend this book to everyone as well. It is a great book with some good advice.
