    Talking the story so far!

    Hello people,

i'd like to share my situation with you jsu to knw what you think and what advice you sould give.

I am not a programmer, nor a designer. I have been a regular user of the internet for the last 6-7 years, simply reading up on stuff that i've been interested in. Mostly sport, shopping, ebay - that was the scope for my internet use.

i have a decent education and working experience within banking, insurance, legal, car hire, computer retailer, customer service environments. I am 30 years old and in a huge mess financially! don't worry people, i am not going to ask for money!! just advice!

i am in £25,000 worth of personal unsecured debt, i have debt recovery companies chasing me for money daily. Another £40,000 of finance also remains unpaid although this has assetts which can be surrendered, but due to depreciation on these assetts, the sale of them will not settle the finance in full........!

I am, currently unemployed!! no income........ other than state benefits.

i walked out on my previous employer in October of 2005 as they had failed to pay my wages for nearly six months!

My doctor has requested that i refrain from work at least until August 2007 due to my mental health...... although i admit, i did slightly exaggerate of the symptoms!!

i had decided in October 05 never to work for any employer and would start my own business, either "real world" or on the net. As internet businesses are cheaper to run, i decided this was the way to go.

Ebay was my main focus initially and found numerous ebook sellers, claiming that they make thousands a month. i jumped onto the bandwagon and created an ebook, registered a domain and started advertising on ebay, just as the other 50,000 ebook sellers were doing!

This got me nowhere, although i learned the basics of how to get a site online and the cpanel.

i puirchased (yes, purchased!!) various software, from ebay; the full adobe cs2, suite, macromedia mx suite amongst others. I taught myself how to use these - dreamweaver, flash, photoshop, fireworks, illustrator, in-design. I even spent a month bootlegging some of these "copies" on ebay, making over £3000 in a month, but sure enough that ended when paypal killed my account!!
i also purchasd and read a couple of languages, such as ASP, PHP, and extended my knowledge of the basic HTML.

just to mention that all this learning and purchasing, using of software occurred as a result of some idea in my head to make money. I thought up an idea, needed some software or script to make it work, so i went and learned it. by the time i'd finished learning it, another idea (more profitable, ofcourse!) would takeover, leading me in a completely new direction! does this happen to you too or is it just me!?

In March 2006, i came across themilliondollarhomepage and of course, i did my own - another couple of weeks gone and still no business. Then, i had another website idea which was a definite moneymaker!

i'd done it! i'd figured it out, everything was much clearer, so i got to work. Completed the website (using dreamweaver and PHP! that i'd just learnt!), registered the domain, opened a bank account!!, got an accountant!!, designed a leaflet with my newly acquired photoshop skills! got it printed with some business cards, dropped the leaflets to local businesses! waited for the phone to ring!! ......... and waited! No sales!......... plenty of visitors to the site.............! 0 sales.......hmmm!

printed some more leaflets, dropped locally, advertised in the local paper, twice - plenty of people now know about the site and daily regular vsitors, but 0 sales.

so i re-design the site believing that it needed some work! no joy!

i now figure that as i have regular visitors, maybe i can profit from adsense or other advertsing/affiliate programmes. i slapped ona couple of adsense units and affiliate banners.

the site has Commission Junction ads, Tradedoubler ads, buy.at ads, adbrite units and google adsense units. up until this day, i have made approximately £10.00 in commission what gives??!

anyway..... all these failures - during the last three weeks (on & off), i have been working on another site....... a site targeted at you! the online entrepreneur, the webmaster - it's not quite ready yet, give me another ten days or so, max and i'll tell you about it!

by the way! the last week has brought in something at least! a couple of existing local busineses and two new start-ups knocked on my door to request that i build them a website! a brochure website! the start-up businesses, i was able to persuade them to allow me to design their logo, business cards, flyers, posters, door signs at a complete cost of £1500, each. i've just completed a set for one - took me three whole days - earned £1500, in three days! and they're probably gonna be back for more posters and flyers!

is this it? is this what i've been heading for?

i just needed to share that with someone and now i've done that - thanks for listening!

Wow. Great story and great persistence. Just goes to show if you want it badly enough.... How long did it take you to learn Dreamweaver and PHP to the point you could build a decent looking site? i'm actually in the process of teaching myself right now too.

Dam debt. Im glad im starting at the age without the pressure of keeping myself above ground. Goodluck man. And congratulations on the business your getting from these two businesses. Maybe ask them to pass your details to any businesses they are afilliated with or friends and offer them some sort of commision. Good luck anyway.

Just some advice... don't get your hopes up for this next site.

There is a strong likelihood that it will fail and bring in zero revenue as well.

Making money online from whatever methods can be easy for some and not so much for others. It all just comes down to luck, experience and a little know-how.

But I hope it goes well

    cheers

I wouldn't call it luck nado.

I mean it comes to a simple formula

    S.O.L.D

    Simple> Simple design, easy concept

Original> Don't do things like copy the million dollarhomepage

    Loud> Word of Mouth Advertising

    that all brings in the

    Dough> Making Money
    one big idea in development

Are you from the uk? If so contaqct one of those comapnys that advertise on tv or you cna do it yourself but it will take longer plus you'll need a lawyer. As you can use that government legislation law where if your over £15,000 in debt you can get the interest froze and upto 75% wiped off.

I don't know the exact full details but you could contact one of those, and get the interest frozen and some of it wiped off.

    you mean an IVA

i think you're talking about an IVA - Individual Voluntary Agreement (only in the UK and yes, i am in UK)

don't know if the figure is £15,000 though, i suspect it's more cos i was in more debt than that!

i'm already on an IVA - since February 2005. The credit card companies have frozen the debts since then, so 0% interest (which is great!) i payback £220 each month (derived at after considering my income at that time), for a maximum of 5 years. Then whatever's left is wiped clean. So, i figure that i pay approx £10,000 back and save buckets due to the frozen interest charges.

On occasion i feel guiltridden, but it's pretty cool. Before the IVA, i used to just pay the minimum payments. This didn't even cover the interest charges for that month and now no interest means i can payback the actual debt.

i, personally blame the credit card/finance houses for this mess (go on! i'll share some blame too!) of increase in public personal debt. they made it too easy to obtain finance, they were literally throwing money at us. On one occassion, i called the Abbey to CANCEL a credit card! they talked me out of it! they insisted on giving! yes giving me £8000 cash!! to pay off another card. i thought this was ridiculous! they, instead of transferring the £8k to another credit card balance, insisted to pay it into my bank account and trusted me to pay my other card provider at my leisure!!

you can imagine what happen! yes, the £8,000 didn't move from my bank account for a while and i started spending. Another £8,000 debt quickly materialised! i know it wasn't my own, but it was "money in the bank"!

p.s i am aware that i did his - it is my own fault - so no lectures please!

pps. personal website number 2 is bringing in some cash, made a couple of sales yesterday (income: £200! + adsense doing well - £5 per day avg)!

ppps. start-up company number one also paid up, in full! they also gave me extra for the hosting and domain names i registered for them (total earning from this:£1580!). i told them i included this in the full sale figure, but they insisted!

this is the type of money i want people to throw at me, not credit card debt!!

    i should make this into a blog, i think!!hmmmm!

    i understand.
but could this really work? i blog about my experiences of how i got into this mess to deter others from making the same mistakes! i have some truly amazing stories as well! there's the MLM episode. The Computer Shop Adventure. The Move. The Business Deal! Business Deal turns Sour! Going Training! Working 20 hours per day, 7 days per week! The Final Blow! The Marriage Break-up! A Child is Born! Hide & Seek! The CSA on my back! The Divorce! Grand Theft! Embezzlement! The cancer scare! 9/11! Defrauded! Memory Loss! "Property Purchase..or not"! Compulsive Lies! Turning to God! Door to Door! ............. the list goes on!......... hopefully, there'll be a "The turnaroud" or a "From Debts to Riches" - honestly, i could write a book!

Wow! i've just realised what i've gone through! and it's all true!

i could stick a "Please Donate" button on the blog - lol - and promise donaters to blog about them in return. adsense blocks for debt management companies could also work! sugar! i'm already monetising it! how could i not? considering my circumstances.

i'm sure there are plenty of sites already doing this, considering the number of debt-ridden people out there.
