    The Prince's Trust

Hi, I'm new here, thought it looked like a great forum to invest my time in

Well, basically, I feel that I'm sitting on something pretty big, and it is one of the passions of my life, too, which makes me feel like this really could work! I've spent the whole of the Christmas holidays planning out my ideas (including Xmas day). I've done extensive resarch on predicted consumer trends in the UK in '09, and, well, my niche fits in quite snugly

Anyway, I was just wondering..does anyone here have any experience with the Prince's Trust? How were they able to help you with your business? I am strongly considering approaching them for business support and advice

Hope you all have a happy new years

I'll be a regular on this forum for sure.

    Nathaniel

Not sure about other people's experience, but they were a waste of my time.

Ahh really, did they do more harm than good???

Hmm..Really I think I'm just looking for a business mentor (in real life) for general support and motivation more than anything else...and as they have an office very near to where I live I thought it would be a good idea to get in contact with them

hope you managed fine without them anyhow!

How old are you? Prince's Trust won't listen if you're under 18 (I tried).

You might have more look with Shell LiveWire they work with 16 - 30 year olds and I think the have a mentor programme runnning. They also have lots of free resources on the site, like business plans, financial plans etc.

Stotfold will be my first guess?

Sophie, well I'm 18 now and i'm sure i'll be able to get their attention but i'm only hearing negative things about them so im not sure if I should even bother!
Cheers for the heads up on LiveWire, looks very interesting I'll be sure to join!

b.t.w, I saw your signature.. if I find a way of implementing it into my new business idea, would you be interested in doing podcasts for me? (audio)

    Hi,

Glad to see another enthusiastic entrepreneur looking to get started!

As far as the Prince's Trust is concerned, i would say don't bother. Well unless your a drop out with a terrible idea that will never work - that way you are likely to get loads of grants and funding from them.

I think you would be best trying to go at it yourself, that's the best way. Depends what it is your trying to do and what your experience is. It seems there are alot of extremely knowledgable people on here (business gods lol).....I'm not one of them..im more of a i like it, will it work, hey let's do it kinda guy lol....but hey...everyones different...and im sure everyone will tell me my approach is flawed lol.

I just have a chip on my shoulder about The Prince's Trust as they refused to listen to me because i am at uni and they dont offer help or support to people in education...and they will only think about it 1 year after you graduate....whats the point? lol.....surely the fact im trying to get a degree and start a business shows im enthusiastic and motivated...but like i said...im not a theory type so im probably wrong!

Best of luck anyway, and would love to hear about your idea or how your getting on. If i can be of any help message me or just ask

    Sorry about the rant lol
