The million dollar global contest The San Francisco Limo Driver...Did he get your card in May, 2008?
The San Francisco Limo Driver...Did he get your card in May, 2008?
The million dollar global contest...from goldpactpower
It started as a game. A limousine driver we hire and a dear friend through our work together with youth centers, was standing in front of the PALACE HOTEL in San Francisco on the evening with May 9th, 2008. He told me there was a conference of young entrepreneurs running around tonight and it flashed in my head: "What a great place to start a game to resolve global warming and energy issues and in the process, make a few billion dollars."
So we started with the first part of the game: "Terry - I'll give you a dollar for every business card you can collect from these folks." The game got better. Terry would say "Hey, I have the CEO of a company with $50 billion in energy contracts right here on the phone - on speaker - who is paying me $1 for every card I collect. You want to talk to him?" and I would pipe up "Hi. Any of you folks from the Midwest?" and usually there were one or two. "How many of you would like to travel the world serving renewable energy contracts in the wind, bio-fuel and geothermal markets?" and a few would scream (it was Friday and they sounded pretty lit) "WE WOULD!" and so it began...a concept.
Good games often start with a fun concept.
So here's the deal.
1. We're going to find a few folks in this group with a film making background. I sold my first film at 13 and know a few people here in S.F., but I'd rather the film crew (or as many people in the game as possible) come from the actual players.
2. We're going to design the game and I'm going to pay the prices - something like $3M for first place, $2M for second place and $1M for third place.
3. The rules are simple: the person who packages up the most MW (Mega Watts of Power) of renewable energy each month wins.
That's right - every month! We'll refresh the contest over and over and over until we've stopped the rising temperatures, we're growing ice caps on mountain tops and scientists who talk about the risks of carbon footprints are out of a job.
4. Define: what is a "PACKAGE"? A renewable energy package is a wind, geothermal or bio-fuel contract that has passed through the preliminary engineering stages, been packaged up for investment, such as the hedge funds we currently work with (or a private investor), opens escrow, during which time due diligence takes place and closes escrow to begin construction.
Sound complicated? No worries. We'll train you as you go and you don't have to quit your day job. This is a part-time game (even if the survival of the planet depends on it).
5. Each month we'll list the packages that close escrow and keep a list of the winners. Therefore, to enter the contest you'll need to provide a bio, typical talent release for photos, web and film etc. and...
6. You must be capable of filming a 1 to 3 minute segment or two yourself; rough cut video is fine. Segments such as out on the farm, in the office, shaking hands with this or that executive.
7. Clips will be compiled weekly and edited for three pilots. Pilots will be shown to networks (such as TLC) and in the event the show takes off...
8. We donate the proceeds from the show to youth and family agencies selected by the participants for that week's show. Other likely charities or programs should include drought stricken areas, small desalinization projects for developing countries and other humanitarian programs. We'll let the VIEWERS decide where any revenue from the show goes....fair? Remember, this isn't about money for GPP from a TV show; it is about renewable energy and global warming, so lets stay focused here. There is plenty of cash once the energy project completes escrow for the 'players'.
You might also note that GPP pays 20% of the net profits from renewable energy projects to the person who packaged the project. A typical 100 MW wind farm earning $5 - $10 million a year can generate $1 - $2 million a year for the 'player' who signed that project.
GPP also donates 20% of our net profits from each project to local schools, youth and family agencies. That has been and will continue to be our standard corporate policy.
GPP also donates another 20% of our net profits to occupational labs, R&D programs and global infrastructure development projects. We are and always will be focused on taking care of the people and communities we serve.
9. Terry the Limo Driver has already collected several dozen cards and we'll post this text on the web site at eonetwork dot org and at youngentrepreneur dot com. Smart players will search both sites (and others) to create teams.
10. You can learn more at goldpactpower web site at the ye.html page.
note: if you have video or TV production experience, make sure you note that in your bio and (very likely), you'll be asked to act as part of the Production Crew for the show.
Ladies and Gentlemen - start your wind mills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
p.s. replies to this page would be greatly appreciated
