The greatest concept EVER

So Wendy's, Carls Jr. , and Anheiser Busch announced they are going to begin animated viral networking.

Basically creating funny clips about there products and then sending them to peoples emails. The idea is if the ad's are funny enough, people pass them around like a "virus" and spread free advertising for the company!! Fantastic idea...I just wanted to share.

Would be a fantastic Idea if it is done well.

Too be honest, I would not forward anybody to see that....

To do it well will cost money, like making an advert or a movie.

its how to get something orgininal.

I think animations would be best, digital cartoons

Anyone know how to create cartoons?

I agree. I am not forwarding any potential clients that email, just friends and family...I do think it is funny. I have actually already sent out requests to a few animation companies looking for 2 or 3 animation clips for my different companies.

For the business to be a success, it needs to get its adverts in the form of videos/cartoons.

Also the product should feature in the ad, or at least the colours, logo.

Still photos with a commical theme would be forward to people for a giggle. So does not need to be video.

Its basiclly bringing all the concepts of tv advertising to the net with a few different rules.

sex sells, shock factor sells

This isn't an idea, it's an execution. It's a funny video clip for jack-in-the-box, no one else. It has absolutly nothing to do with the thousands of we-are-here and other completely off target companies sending these around. Viral marketing is about developing a strategy to respond to a want your market has. Sith Sense and Subservient Chicken are brilliant examples of viral marketing and utilizing the ability of sharing contagious content with friends. Guaranteedtrafic is a guaranteed failure as are the people that use it. The purpose of advertising and marketing is to find a unique way to get people to use your product/service, not to laugh. If they laugh while exploring the features of your product than its a great campaign. But there is no call to action from receiving a funny clip in the mail that has nothing to do with the site plugged below it.

Wendy's and Carl's viral network will only work if the message is consistent and on strategy with what they are currently trying to sell about their products. That recent rejected paris hilton spot got tons of attention from the media and the web because it got banned for her looking like the $lut she is. But it is definitely not going to increase sales at Carl's.
