god point, but it's a lot more complicated than that.

the trick to making a million dollars is to make sure you don't lose a million dollars

so it's very important to know when and how to quit under-performing ventures and persist in building a more diversified startup portfolio

cut the losers, ride the winners, don't ride losers, a loser is born a loser and can't be made into a winner because she (the venture) was born a loser

at the end of the day, entrepreneurs trade in unlisted stocks, and like all stocks - it's important to know when to sell out

I would think that a good companion to persistency is continuous learning from one's mistakes so persistency can be controlled into the desired direction.
