Post Textbook and Classes: Useful or Useless?

    Hello all,

I would like to start in this forum with a question:

Are the years of study (theory) and Textbooks really useful when comes to put all that knowledge in the real life world?

If your answer is positive, what kind of advices would you give in order to do this effectively when starting a business?

I know most of you will think "Well, depends on what did you study" but I would like to read opinions regarding different fields and experiences.

Thanks in advance and sorry for my english

    Regards,

    Eth.

In my experience, yes, my years of formal education have had great positive influence on my abilities and success as an entrepreneur. (Granted I have significant education to draw on: BA in Economics, Finance, and International Business with a Spanish minor; MBA in Management; six weeks from receiving my law degree.)

My opinion though is that if you go through school with just a diploma in mind, you won't be as well off as if you were to have gone through school with the goal of learning anything and everything that could help you as an entrepreneur. Also, there is much to be learned in school outside of the classroom.

    Good luck.

I would agree with what Jonathan said. However, there are dozens of threads with this exact same topic, so I suggest you search the forum rather than solicit the exact same responses again and start another war.
