Sounds interesting when and where are you looking at starting up?

Also I would suggest you think carefully about the decor. Your idea of mixing and matching from the different cultures sounds good, but I think there is a risk of making it to "restaurant like" which may put people off "just dropping in for a cuppa"

Sounds like a great idea to me. In terms of the decor I would try to make 'zones' in the shop, if it's big enough, that reflect the different countries. The serving area could be one, the four corners of the shop could each be different too - i.e. a Chineses seating area, a relaxed moroccan area, a simple bar stool area etc.

Good luck!

As part of your world theme why not have the world wide web?

Either have PC's there or have a wifi connection. If you go for the latter let people pay for connection with there tea or offer 10 minutes of free connection with each tea or each $5 spent.

Excellent ideas. The zones thing does sound better compared to the random/mixed theme, and i like the 'free internet minutes' idea. I will keep these in mind. Thanks!

Make sure you include extra's to sell like ...

different types of tea for people to take home and try.

Mugs

Investigate and buy in bulk an unusual item from around the world as a sort of "item of the month".

and why not recommend and sell a book of the month in store.

These things will not only add value but will also give the place more of a community feel and most importantly swell your bank balance.

I came back from china last holiday. Bought a couple of high class chinese tea. I think i have got 2 type. One for human well-being that is good for illness and the other has this really sweet smell. Bought quite a lot but couldnt finish drinking lol.

Have got a pic of the packaging if you want.
