Targetting students for a potential business

Being a student myself, I feel that I have a deep understanding of the inconveniences that modern-day students experience in day-to-day activities. Therefore, I thought it might be worth pursuing some sort of business opportunity targeting said students. It would most likely be an Internet-based service.

The big question that I keep asking myself, though, is: can it make any money?

Let's be honest: students don't like to pay money for services. Any time I search for something school related through Google and am directed to a site requiring registration or payment, I usually leave.

Knowing this, would I be able to make money through a free student service? How? Ad revenue only provides so much and is only effective once the site has consistent daily traffic.

At this point, I'm just trying to test the waters to see if investing my time and capital in a student-service project would be worth-while.

I'm currently running two sites for college students and have found both of them to be fairly successful. If you'd like to chat about the process, definitely send me a PM. Good luck!
