Hey all,
My friend and I have been saving up to start our own small business. One of the ideas that came to our mind is a Taqueria that will cater Tacos and Burritos with a sit down area and drive through. We will have three meats to chose from, Carne, Chicken and Pork. The basic ingredients will be beans, rice, meat, cilantro, onions and red/green sauce. We will have the traditional Orhchata drinks as well as sodas. We are planning on starting this business in the state of Kansas, my partner has relatives out in the area of Kansas that have been contacted by the locals on tips for mexican food. It seems, the locals are fond of the food, but from what he tells me there is no restaurant that cooks the traditional tacos and burritos.
My question, for those that have experience in the food industry what am I looking at as the start up cost? How often would you say, the inventory would have to be reordered. I am planning on using local farms as well as a local meat house and have fresh meat as often as possible. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
We are looking at $20k, is this a reasonable budget?
thanks,
Sam.
