Take a look at my new music site :: stounce.com

    Hey Everyone,

I'm fairly new to the site, but I wanted to sign up and see if I could get some insight into my own projects through what other people are doing on here.

I just started a new site that is dedicated to building a community where you and others can discuss new music. (Stounce.com - your place. your music. your thoughts.) So far I have written a few articles about some of my favorite new bands, but in the future there will be more opportunity to interact and add your own favorites as well. I found that many times when I was bored, I would just start looking all over the internet to find new music that I hadn't heard of. This is my answer to that problem.

Anyways, let me know what you think of the site and give me some insight as to where I should go with the site. What would you like to see? My ultimate goal is to build a place where people enjoy going and keep coming back. Thanks everyone!

Stounce.com - your place. your music. your thoughts.

I would clean up the logo to start, the "half there" letters look shabby. Otherwise the top bar is nice.

Also scrolling below the fold of the page for something other than pictures thrown around the top doesnt really work... move the content(three columns) up, make the pictures smaller.

Also how do you have the rights to use the music and videos?

Thanks, i'm not hosting those songs or videos. They are accessible anywhere on the internet.

Just because something is available elsewhere on the internet doesn't mean that you are legally entitled to use it.

I have a feeling you don't have the right to use all the images on your site. But hey, cheat, but don't get caught.

That only works till the site is successful, and if its not, what's the point... better to do it right from the get go.

Plus I have heard of all those bands before, not really new... why not focus on unsigned and indie bands. There is so much undiscovered talent... check out THE MIDNIGHT RENEWAL
and do a story on them, they are buddies of mine!

Well its always blurry when looking at copyright infringement. I hope that all is well when I use these images. I am promoting the bands.....I find the music on sites like SkreemR Mp3 Search - World's Greatest Mp3 Search and SeeqPod Playable Search - Find. Discover. Watch. Listen. Share.. They seem to be doing the same thing I am. How do you think I should deal with images? contact the bands myself? Google is doing the same thing when you search for images. I don't know...I will look into it.

I will check that band out that you mentioned....eventually I want others to be able to write their own reviews and articles. So, if you feel the need then write away.....I will definitely look at it and possibly put it on the homepage.

    Thanks for the input!

It's blurry when looking at copyright infringement, huh?! Before I offer my thoughts, I'm curious to know your basis for this. Is it merely because you're using copyrighted images on your site without either being the owner of the copyrights or having permission from their owners to use them?

I'm just saying that there is a lot of grey area when someone is not actually hosting the images, etc. on their server. I have requested permission from the bands to use their images, etc. and gotten positive feedback. Hopefully I can avoid any issues with this.

In the end, all I really want to do is provide good content for people to read about and create a community for people to share their favorite band whether they are new or old. There are currently no advertisements and I don't plan on putting any there soon until I see a lot of traffic and need a way to pay for the hosting fees.

Thanks for the input...let me know if you see anything else that I should change.
