Warning to the Wise: Watch out when dealing with any overseas exporters. There are people out to scam you. Any one who wants you to pay by western union is very suspicious. Only agree to payment by a letter of credit, escrow (like escrow.com), or maybe paypal.
(I've talked to some of these "shoe exporters" and they all want Western Union. The first thing sites like Alibaba and TradeKey will tell you about payment is to avoid Western Union (and anyone who suggests it).

For sure contract out the printing at first to a screen printer. Then when you get your feet of the ground a little bit, start investing in the equipment you need. Marketing is key though so i would keep that as most important on your list

i'm note sure why people keep telling you to use a professional and then get the equipment to print yourself... you need to ask yourself if you want to do the printing yourself or if you want to outsource it or use a fullfilment services such as redbubble... when you figure that out then you need to ask yourself some more questions... maybe even before that you should come to a decision as to what sort of printing method will be used... then you can make a better decision on who will print the shirts because you know the how
